From the KL tower viewing point, you can get the best views of the city. The adult ticket costs 25RM and is worth it. You’ll love the views from this point. You can actually get better views from the KL Tower than the Petronas Towers skybridge (and unlike the Petronas Towers, you have a complete view of KL in every direction).

Chinatown – Tasty Food, Bargain Markets & Bustling Atmosphere

Chinatown is home to some amazing market stalls that sell similar products. If you are looking for bargain clothing/leather products, then go down and grab yourself a great deal.

Lake Gardens & Bird Park

The Lake Gardens were originally created under British rule. They are worth a visit when you’re on holiday in Malaysia. The bird reserve, which houses over 150 species of birds and wildlife is the main attraction of the gardens.

National Museum

This museum has many interesting exhibits and information about Malaysia’s history and culture.

Kampung Baru & Night Market

You’ll find a glimpse into traditional Malay life in this peaceful area. The best time to visit it is Saturday night when the lively night market comes alive. There’s almost everything you could want.

Batu Caves

Although the Batu Caves may be located somewhat north of Kuala Lumpur strictly speaking, many tourists to Malaysia’s capital make their way here since it is in neighboring Selangor. You can also see the Hindu Temple shrine, the golden statue of Lord Subramaniam and the Batu Caves. It takes approximately 270 steps to reach the top. There is a pilgrimage to the Batu Caves every January where over a million people visit to pay their respects.

Markets, Markets and Markets (And Other Markets)

Kuala Lumpur is the ultimate market city. You can’t walk more than five minutes without stopping at a market or stall, no matter what time it is. The most well-known is Central Market. It has a great selection of handicrafts, jewelry and mementos as well as clothes. You will need to bargain as it is a popular tourist destination. It is important to note that you may find identical items on Malaysian islands (such as Langkawi) for a fraction of the price if your plan is to travel to these beautiful islands. The central market is located at jln Hang Kasturi.

A little more rustic is Kuala Lumpur Arts Market in Laman Seni KL. This is a great place to find home-made crafts. You can deal directly with the artisans/crafters which makes it a pleasant story to tell others about the painting on your wall.

Kampung Baru’s Night Market is a delight. It runs from Saturday to Sunday.

Kompleks Budaya Kraf has a wide selection of pewter and crafts, and is well worth a stop.

Markets are an integral part of Malaysian culture. If you’re not visiting Malaysia for a business trip, it is worth adding them to your list of places to see.

Shopping malls

Shopping in Malaysia also includes large shopping malls that rival those found in New York and London.

The Pavillion Mall is located in the heart the golden Triangle. This mall has hundreds of shops and excellent eating places. There are some great and reasonably priced restaurants on the top floor. One of them is Spice Of India, which serves authentic Indian cuisine.
